What are the Twitch Affiliate requirements?
To become a Twitch Affiliate you meet four requirements: 25 followers, stream for 4 hours total, stream on 4 different days, and reach an average of 3 viewers across 4 different days (Twitch, Joining the Affiliate Program). You have to hit all four to be invited, and the invite arrives by email and notification. Twitch lowered these numbers in 2025, so the bar is easier than it used to be. Here is exactly what each one means, and what happens once you qualify.
The four requirements
Twitch's own Affiliate page lists four things, and all four are required for an invite: reach 25 followers, stream for a total of 4 hours, stream on 4 different days, and reach an average of 3 viewers across 4 different days (Twitch, Joining the Affiliate Program). None of them alone is enough. The invite comes only once you have hit all four, and it is sent by email and in-app notification.
What the numbers actually mean
The list is short but each item has a wrinkle worth knowing. The 25 followers is a simple total. The 4 hours is total airtime, not per day, and the 4 different days can be spread across the qualifying period, so a few short streams count. The one people misread is the viewers: the average of 3 is average CONCURRENT viewers, measured across 4 different days, and days where you were below 3 do not count against you, they simply are not among the four that qualify. In other words, you need four good days, not a perfect record.
What changed, and when
If an older guide told you the bar was higher, it was right at the time. Twitch lowered the Affiliate requirements in June 2025: the old bar was 8 hours streamed, on 7 different days, an average of 3 concurrent viewers, and 50 followers (Twitch blog, Monetization for All). The current numbers, 4 hours, 4 days, and 25 followers, are the lowered version.
Once you qualify
The invite arrives by email and notification, and you complete a short onboarding. Two-factor authentication is required to finish it, and creators aged 13 to 17 can join with a parent or guardian's consent. Separately, in May 2026 Twitch opened Bits, subscriptions, emotes, badges, and Channel Points to eligible streamers globally, but being paid still requires Affiliate or Partner status, with a $50 payout minimum, and the Spendable Balance feature is US-only for now (Twitch, May 2026).
Affiliate vs Partner
Affiliate is the entry tier; Partner is the higher one. To become a Twitch Partner you complete the Path to Partner achievement, then hit at least six streams averaging 75 viewers per 30-day period over the past two consecutive months (Twitch, Partner Program). Meeting that lets you apply, and applying does not guarantee Partnership. So Affiliate is the realistic first milestone for most creators, and Partner is a later step as your audience grows.
Making money before, and beyond, the platform tiers
The platform tiers gate subs, Bits, and ads, but they are not the only way a stream earns. Sponsorship is a separate income, where a brand pays you directly to feature them on your stream, and you set the price rather than take a platform split. Twitch itself opened its sponsorship program to Creator Sponsorship Certified Affiliates in August 2026, having previously kept it to Partners (blog.twitch.tv, August 2026). Publsh does not require Twitch Affiliate or Partner status. You price your own on-screen ad space: when your account opens you publish a rate for each placement, a brand books it (on Twitch, as Twitch bookings come online), and you keep 87.5 to 92 percent of what they pay. To estimate what your audience could support, run the earnings calculator, and for how the platforms compare on income overall, see how much Twitch streamers make and kick vs twitch for streamers.
Four numbers, all lower than they used to be. Hit them, and Affiliate is the first step, not the ceiling.
Frequently asked
How many followers do you need for Twitch Affiliate?
25 followers. It is one of four requirements: 25 followers, 4 hours streamed, on 4 different days, and an average of 3 concurrent viewers across 4 different days (Twitch, Joining the Affiliate Program). All four are needed for an invite.
What are the Twitch Partner requirements?
Complete Twitch's Path to Partner achievement, then reach at least six streams averaging 75 viewers per 30-day period over the past two consecutive months (Twitch, Partner Program). Meeting it lets you apply; applying does not guarantee Partnership. Partner is the tier above Affiliate.
Do you need Affiliate to make money on Twitch?
For Twitch's own programs, yes: being paid for subs, Bits, and ads requires Affiliate or Partner status, with a $50 payout minimum (Twitch, May 2026). Sponsorship is a separate income, where a brand pays you directly to feature them; on Publsh you set your own rate for that, and Twitch also opened its own sponsorship program to Certified Affiliates in August 2026.
